Public speaking skills are key parts of the Bear Claw Events training program, because we know how important they are to career advancement. We apply the following strategies in our own speaking pursuits to make the strongest possible impressions on our listeners:
- Opening Strong: We do our best to memorize a powerful opening for every speech, often including a compelling story for good measure. By speaking from our hearts at the outset, we capture our audience’s attention the right way.
- Finishing Memorably: The end of the speech is equally important, because we want to leave our main points in our listeners’ minds long after we leave the stage. We rehearse our closing remarks just as much as our openers, knowing it’s the best way to get our messages across.
- Speaking With Conviction: Through our many Bear Claw Events speaking engagements, we’ve learned that the audience will believe if we believe. In other words, we make sure we feel strongly about whatever key points we’re making in any given presentation.
- Making Consistent Eye Contact: We don’t use the familiar advice to look at the back of the room. Instead, we pick out a few especially attentive audience members and revisit them with eye contact throughout the speech. This helps us create stronger rapport with the entire crowd, because our gaze is moving around a bit all the while.
These strategies are helping us make more impactful speeches. For more of our best presenting advice, check out the Bear Claw Events Newswire.
